Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using freeEDU.fi. By creating an account or accessing any part of the platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and freeEDU.fi.

Definitions

Throughout these Terms, the following definitions apply:

  • "Platform" — The freeEDU.fi website, web application, and all associated services accessible at freeedu.fi.
  • "We," "Us," "Our" — freeEDU.fi, the operator of the Platform, incorporated in Finland.
  • "You," "User" — Any individual who accesses, registers for, or uses the Platform.
  • "Content" — All course materials, videos, articles, assessments, certificates, and other materials available on the Platform.
  • "Account" — Your registered user profile on the Platform.
  • "Certificate" — A digital credential issued by freeEDU.fi upon successful completion of a course or program.
  • "Sponsor" — An organization or institution that provides financial support enabling free access to the Platform.

Eligibility & Account Registration

To use freeEDU.fi, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You may only create one account per person. Duplicate accounts may be removed without notice.
  • You must not register on behalf of another person without their explicit authorization.
You are fully responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

The freeEDU.fi Service

freeEDU.fi provides an online educational platform offering AI-focused courses, learning materials, assessments, and digital certificates. Our services include:

  • Access to structured AI education courses designed for various skill levels
  • Interactive quizzes, assignments, and progress tracking
  • Digital certificates upon successful course completion
  • A job placement support program for eligible graduates
  • Community access and peer learning features

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Platform at any time, with reasonable notice where possible.

Free Access & Sponsored Model

freeEDU.fi operates on a sponsored access model — our courses are provided to users at no cost, made possible through institutional sponsors, partner universities, and organizations committed to democratizing AI education.

  • We will not charge you for access to our core courses or certificates without prior written notice.
  • Free spots are subject to availability and may be limited at certain times.
  • We may introduce optional premium features in the future; these will always be clearly labelled and never required to complete core coursework.
  • Sponsor relationships do not influence course content, grades, or certificate issuance.

User Conduct & Prohibited Use

By using freeEDU.fi, you agree to use the Platform in good faith and in compliance with applicable laws. The following conduct is strictly prohibited:

  • Academic dishonesty — Cheating on assessments, submitting work that is not your own, or misrepresenting your qualifications.
  • Unauthorized access — Attempting to access accounts, systems, or data you are not authorized to use.
  • Harmful content — Uploading, posting, or transmitting content that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful.
  • Scraping & automation — Using bots, crawlers, or automated tools to extract content or interact with the Platform without our written consent.
  • Misrepresentation — Impersonating another person, organization, or freeEDU.fi staff.
  • Commercial exploitation — Selling, sublicensing, or commercially distributing any Platform content without authorization.
  • Interference — Attempting to disrupt, degrade, or impair the functioning of the Platform or its underlying infrastructure.
Violation of these conduct rules may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination, at our sole discretion, without prior notice.

Certificates & Credentials

Upon successful completion of a course or program, you may receive a digital certificate from freeEDU.fi. The following conditions apply:

  • Certificates are issued solely on the basis of genuine completion of course requirements, including assessments, at passing thresholds.
  • Certificates are non-transferable and issued in your name only.
  • Any certificate obtained through dishonest means will be revoked and the associated account terminated.
  • Where partner universities offer ECTS credit recognition, this is subject to the policies of the individual institution and is not guaranteed by freeEDU.fi.
  • We reserve the right to verify the authenticity of any certificate upon request by a third party.
freeEDU.fi certificates are designed to be industry-relevant and verifiable. However, their recognition by specific employers or institutions is at the discretion of those parties and cannot be guaranteed.

Intellectual Property

All content on the freeEDU.fi Platform — including course materials, videos, graphics, assessments, logos, and the freeEDU.fi brand — is the intellectual property of freeEDU.fi or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to:

  • Access and use course content for your own personal, non-commercial educational purposes.
  • Download materials explicitly marked as downloadable by the Platform.

You may not:

  • Reproduce, republish, or redistribute course content in any form without our express written permission.
  • Create derivative works based on Platform content.
  • Use freeEDU.fi's name, logo, or branding without prior written authorization.
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices from content.

Content you submit to the Platform (e.g., forum posts, feedback) remains yours, but you grant freeEDU.fi a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute it in connection with operating the Platform.

Privacy & Data

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using freeEDU.fi, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

  • We collect only data necessary to provide and improve our services.
  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
  • You have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and portability.
  • We use cookies — see our Cookie Policy for details.

Third-Party Services & Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, tools, or services. These are provided for convenience only and do not constitute an endorsement by freeEDU.fi.

  • We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or availability of third-party services.
  • Your use of any third-party service is at your own risk and subject to that service's terms and privacy policy.
  • We use selected third-party service providers (hosting, email, analytics) under data processing agreements consistent with GDPR.

Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Disclaimer of Warranties: The Platform and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by Finnish law, freeEDU.fi disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or harmful components.
  • Course content is always current, complete, or accurate.
  • Results obtained from the Platform will meet your expectations.
Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, freeEDU.fi and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of earnings, data, or business opportunities — arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed €100 EUR or the amount you have paid to us in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, as these cannot be excluded under Finnish law.

Account Suspension & Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at our discretion if:

  • You violate any provision of these Terms.
  • We reasonably suspect fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.
  • Your account has been inactive for more than 24 months.
  • We are required to do so by applicable law or a competent authority.

You may delete your own account at any time via your account settings or by emailing [email protected]. Upon deletion, access to course content and certificates through your account will cease, though earned certificates remain verifiable through our public verification system.

If your account is suspended for a conduct violation, certificates issued prior to the violation will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be revoked if the violation involved academic dishonesty.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Finland and the applicable laws of the European Union, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Dispute resolution process:

  • Step 1 — Contact us first. Before initiating any formal proceedings, please contact us at [email protected] to attempt an informal resolution. We will respond within 30 days.
  • Step 2 — Mediation. If informal resolution fails, both parties agree to attempt mediation through a mutually agreed mediator before pursuing litigation.
  • Step 3 — Courts. Any unresolved disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Helsinki, Finland.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • Send a notification to your registered email address at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
  • Display a prominent notice on the Platform.

Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Platform and may request account deletion.
